Developer "fact sheet" Is Not Factual

Originally published in the Westmore News in February 2022

The developer St. Katherine Group put a paid insert into last week’s paper called a “Development Fact Sheet,” but much of what was in that sheet was not factual.

This sheet was a gross oversimplification of development and just seemed to be saying that development = money. But development is far more complex than that. Development in Port Chester frequently means demolition, displacement, and traffic disruptions.

Also, development means more people, more students, more impact on our infrastructure. This flyer seemed to be saying, “Don’t worry about anything because … money!”

When a developer is paying to put a “fact sheet” in the paper, we should all think about what the facts really are.
